The Appearance Menu Themes

Themes: Installed themes are shown here. At installation time the only theme is Twenty . . . . (version munber) It is the default theme that comes with WordPress.

There are many free themes available from the wordpress.org website.
If you are lucky you get one that works well for you. They can be very hard to personalise to your tastes.

Really good premium themes are available with many more options and are easier to modify, more up to date and have good help sections.

When a new theme is added it is uploaded to the wp-content/themes folder and “activated” in the “Appearance Menu – Themes”.

There are 2 ways to upload a theme. Firstly it must be unzipped,
1/ use your control panel of your website and find where the files are located generally in your public_html folder.

Locate the /wp-content/themes folder and upload it to there.

2/ Easier to use with WordPress is a free program installed on your computer called filezilla
It’s a way of accessing your folders/files within your website control panel, using same instructions as above locate public_html/wp-content/themes upload the unzipped theme and “activate” in the Appearance/themes section.
